Violet Oakley Unveiled

In the early 1900's, neither her lifestyle nor her art were without controversy.  Heather Jannetta portrays Violet Oakley (1874-1961) during a private showing at the Harrisburg state capitol as she unveils not only her stunning murals but also the private secrets and public heartbreak imbedded in each and every brush stroke.

In an era when men ruled the art world, when women were discouraged from having an identity beyond wife and mother, when women did not yet have the right to vote...Violet Oakley defied societal rules to bequeath a brilliant legacy to Harrisburg...to Pennsylvania...and to the world.
